HOW TO DO A HANDSTAND

HOW TO : Handstand 
BEGINNERS ADVICE : 
- Do the same steps but against a wall so you have more support and body control !                  




STEP ONE: 
- Start in a lunge.     
- Start with your favorite foot in front , for example I am a righty so I will start with my right leg in front.                   
 - A lunge in gymnastics is used to provide power as your push off your legs into a handstand. 

STEP TWO:
-Lift your arms straight over your head. ( this helps )
- Lunge forward placing both hands on the ground in front of you about shoulder-width apart.  

STEP THREE:
- Using the momentum from your lunge kick up one leg and have the other one follow meeting you at the top. 
KEEP YOUR ARMS STRAIGHT
- If your using a wall, kick one leg up then the other leaning against the walk for support .
- if you are not able to get all the way up it helps to have a spotter who pulls your legs up and hold them together .

STEP FOUR:
- Once your In handstand you must :  
- keep your body tight 
- arms straight (prevent from falling ). 
- Tighten your stomach , a loose body will cause you to fall 
- don't stick your head out 

STEP FIVE:
- To get down from a handstand step back down using your favorite leg first ! 

Now have some  happy handstanding!!
